Mar 06, 2008 · Hell, if it weren't for the US and Soviet rivalry, we would not have a lot of the technology we enjoy today (even though the world almost ended). This is a proof of concept for now until this picks up. Also the case taper of the 9x39 is less than the 7.62 AK round, which means the magazines don't need a curve to work reliably.
D&H Tactical engineers and produces a wide range of AR-15 magazines in every caliber from 5.56x45mm to .300 Blackout, .50 Beowulf, 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39mm. They also offer AR-10 magazines in classic .308 Winchester/7.62x51mm in addition to 6.5 Creedmoor.
While 7.62x39 AR magazines function with 9x39 ammunition, I would not term them 100 percent reliable. I think a dedicated design will be required. As with any new cartridge, it will take a bit for industry to respond. I'd like to see expanding subsonic loads, supersonic loads and dedicated mags.
Nov 23, 2016 · The 9x39 is a subsonic only round based on the 7.62x39 that fires ball & AP projectiles around 260 grains, quite the thumper. Used by the Roosky spetznaz in a few different suppressed automatic rifles. I have been working tirelessly with cartridge collectors to make a couple Russian contacts that have access to these rounds.
